The Turkish Government have announced this week that the requirement for foreigners to have an expert report to buy or sell property has been abolished. An expert report will now only be required if the property being bought/sold will be used to obtain citizenship or a residence permit. This will speed up the Tapu process as normally an experts report could take 3 to 5 days depending on demand, it may also have an impact on the value stated on the Tapu.
The new rental regulations have been clarified over the past few weeks. The current advise is that if the complex has at least two of the facilities that makes it considered as high-quality residences such as a swimming pool and fitness, then it is okay to rent out the apartment in it. Antalya welcomed 3.96 million foreign tourists in the first five months of 2024, a strong 16.3% increase on last year and the highest ever. Some 974,272 Germans, 858,000 Russians and 451,000 Britons have arrived so far, reflecting increases of 18%, 9% and 28% respectively. Antalya also drew a large number of holidaymakers from Poland (up 35%), the Netherlands (up 16%), Kazakhstan, Ukraine (up 59%), Lithuania, Belgium, and France. In May alone, Antalya attracted a total of 1.9 million foreign holidaymakers, equating to an 18.7% increase from the same period last year.
